Australia: Australian Research Council Discovery Grant. The aim of this project is to work out whether Australia should develop derivatives markets for water in agricultural regions. We will take the southern Murray- Darling Basin as a case study. The possibility of establishing water derivatives has been canvassed by the Australian Stock Exchange. However, no quantitative analysis has been provided on the likely effects. To fill this void, we propose to integrate computable general equilibrium (CGE) modelling with the theory of derivatives and to apply the integrated system to the issue of water. Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD26140 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.
Research Information

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: ECONOMICS or Mathematics. It is required that your study starts no earlier than March 16, 2009 and no later than May 25, 2009.
Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, or Honours 2a or equivalent. Only citizens of Australia or permanent residents can apply.
